As most of you know, at Slow Ventures we believe that creators are the next great entrepreneurs. So today we couldn’t be more excited to officially launch the first Slow Ventures Creator Fund: $60M+ of institutional capital to directly seed community-first entrepreneurs. Practically this means a lot more capital and support to enable this next generation of passionate founders.
As seed investors, our job has always been to match capital with the best early stage entrepreneurs no matter who they are or how they start. This new breed of community-first founder is a force to be reckoned with and deserving of seed investment to accelerate their success — and this fundraise suggests we are not alone in our belief.
Not celebrities, not influencers. The creators we back are capable builders with massive ambitions who deeply understand community, narrative, storytelling, and are best-in-class at what they do. Importantly, they are changing the way businesses are built. Starting first with community, then layering on products and companies that uniquely serve their audiences.
I joined Slow almost 3 years ago to help the team figure out this strategy. At the time, the mandate was to “draw in the dirt” and we agreed that if there was something there, we might raise a fund. It hasn’t been a straight line but we (especially me) have learned a lot along the way from creators, industry friends, the Slow network, and LPs... many of whom are on this email, so thank you!
I am grateful to be leading this effort alongside Sam Lessin and Billy Parks, and can’t wait to get started in earnest… This is just the first step, and now the real work begins!
