A Midyear Check In

Last week, we joined 55,000 creators, industry execs, and fans in Anaheim, CA for VidCon. Over the course of an eventful three days (and despite sobering headlines around decreased funding and exec departures), the conference provided a forum for thoughtful discussion about the current and future state of the creator economy. People largely conceived of creators in one of two ways: as businesses or as artists. And these divergent viewpoints yielded productive dialogue, particularly among certain speakers and audience members.

On Friday, Megan took to the mainstage to explain why we've seen a “reckoning” for upstarts in the space, and where the (next) biggest opportunities might exist for investors. In the spirit of continuing the conversation, we’d like to share the presentation with all of you. As always, feel free to reach out with any thoughts – we’d love to hear from you!

Best,

A note to our readers: Earlier this year, we caught up with Michael Karnjanaprakorn and Safwaan Kay on their podcast, Creator-Led Brands. Check out the episode on YouTube and Apple Podcasts!
